Les Ecrehous
Just 10 minutes away, the tranquil paradise of the ecrehous with its crystal clear waters is a must. The extensive rocky intertidal areas and warm waters host a large diversity of marine wildlife. The area is particularly valuable for a number of species of waders and seabirds who visit the reef both for shelter and breeding.
With France just 12 miles away from Jersey, it is perfectly situated for a short trip for lunch or dinner. If lunch or dinner is not your thing, maybe a visit to one of the several markets available. Early Thursday trips suitable for the Carteret Market, or maybe Portbail market which is 45 minutes away by train.
Visit Sark and enjoy the quaint and slow pace of the Island. Have a spot of lunch, afternoon tea in one of the many gardens or just relax. For the more active, hire a bicycle and cycle around this wonderful island.
Herm Island is just 14 miles from the coast of Jersey and measures a mile and a half long and half a mile wide. Herm is the perfect place to stay for a truly relaxing visit and is ideal for families and anyone wanting to "get away from it all". Once on the paradise island enjoy its beautiful unspoilt beaches and safe, clean pollution-free environment. There are no cars, no crowds and definitely no stress.
The magical Chausey islands hide off Normandy’s most southwesterly corner of coast, 50 minutes by boat from Jersey. The Chausiais boast of their diminutive archipelago’s dimensions, if a little tongue in cheek. They call it the largest archipelago in France… at low tide, when tradition has it that 365 islets are revealed, as opposed to 52 at high tide!
The Minquiers is 30 minutes away and at very low tides, the land mass of Les Minquiers is great than that of Jersey and so getting here can be a treacherous journey. Much of the reef might be very close to the surface of the water and therefore local knowledge is a necessity.
